Biography

In 1976 at Montreal, Nikolay Balboshin put on one of the most dominating displays ever in Olympic wrestling. He had five matches, and won all of them by pins, needing only 16 minutes, 48 seconds, to complete all five matches. This was Balboshin's only Olympic appearance but he won Greco-roman world championships in 1973 and 1974 and he also won six European Championships as a heavyweight – 1973, 1975-79 – all in Greco-roman. From 1973-79 he was Soviet champion as well.
